5 Star Reads Book Club - Got a book you absolutely LOVE and want everyone to know about it? Then do it! At 11:30 am, Saturday, October 8, SPL will be hosting our 5 Star Reads Book Club. Feel free to drop by and recommend your favorite book or a book you recently read that you would rate 5 out of 5 stars. It doesn't matter if it's fiction or non-fiction, biography or not, any genre you care to share. We want to know what you have read and why you loved it. And hey, you never know, you might find your next 5 Star Read while you listen to someone else rave about theirs. Also, there'll be snacks. Who doesn't like to talk about books and eat snacks?

NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writers Month is November. Ever wanted to write a novel? Now is the time! The library has resources to help you achieve your goal. We have the space, the comfy chairs, the laptop bar, not to mention free wifi and outlets to plug in your laptop so it doesn't die just when you break out of your writer's block. We're also going to be hosting weekly events for writer's to get together to help critique each other. Read aloud in front of the group or ask Ben to read it for you if you're not comfortable reading it aloud. We'll have snacks and drinks to help keep you fueled. We will have a prep day Oct 22 and a 50,000 word celebration Dec 3.

If you're not interested in writing a novel, but still want to try your hand at it, come on in and write some poetry, short stories, or start blogging. Remember, we have resources you might not know about. Just ask us.
