Summer Reading 2024

15_Renew_Earth_THEME_JPG.jpgThe Sterling Public Library will have programs for all ages this summer! The theme this year is Read, Renew, Repeat and we are highlighting conservation. The program will run from June 1 through July 31. You may sign up for reading challenges anytime during the program. You do not need to be signed up for the challenge to attend the programs.

Click the age group you're interested in to read about the programs and challenges.
The age groupings are suggested; if you or your child falls close to the edge of a range, you may choose the program you feel fits the best.

For reading recommendations and other information related to the summer reading theme, visit this link to login with your library card.

Children (Birth - 5th grade)

Teens & Adults

All Ages: Bookmark Design Contest -- This year the Sterling Public Library will be doing a Bookmark Design Contest for all ages! We will choose one winner from each age category (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, and adult). The only criteria for the bookmark design is that it should include "SPL" or "Sterling Public Library" somewhere in the design and be related to this year's summer reading theme (environmental conservation). Design forms will be accepted until June 29. Please call the library, stop by for more information,  or view the design form here: SRP_2024_Bookmark_Design_Contest_Sheet.pdf

Children:

This year, children get to set their own reading goal! We hope this is both encouraging to dormant readers and challenging to avid readers. Children will receive a free book to keep when they sign up and another book when they finish the reading program. Kids will also work towards community prizes! When we reach certain benchmarks of books read by all the participants, they will earn a prize for the whole community to enjoy, such as new toys to add to the children's department or a party at the end of the summer. Patrons can register in person at the children's desk. If your child needs to sign up remotely please call the library or email Abbigail for help: This email address is being protected from spambots. Teens & Adults:

To keep with the conservation theme of the program, we are reading books from different ecosystems! Pick up a bookmark which lists 11 different ecosystems and try to read books from as many as possible. If you have trouble finding books, we have a list of a few titles that will work for each one.  You may read books from the adult, young adult, or middle grade collections. For each book you read, you may submit an entry in our weekly prize drawing.

Teens & Adults are also invited to try our Selfie Scavenger Hunts! Take selfies inside and outside the library to win candy or entries in our weekly prize drawing. Pick up copies at the Adult Circulation Desk.
